We are bound by the ethical guidelines of our professional institute and accept instructions to act as your tax agent for you on the basis that we will act in accordance with those ethical guidelines.
We will, from the information you provide:
Prepare a validated personal income tax return, to include supplementary pages, if applicable.
Prepare a calculation of your income tax liabilities and, if applicable, capital gains tax liabilities.
We will automatically claim any income tax and national insurance contributions that appear to have been overpaid. Unless you have indicated on the system otherwise we will request the repayment is sent to the address stated on the income tax return.
Provide you with a copy of the tax return form that we intend to submit to the Inland Revenue. The copy will be e-mailed to you for approval prior to submission, together with your income tax computation. If the return needs repair, this will be undertaken at additional cost when this repair arises through incorrect or omitted information at the time of original submission of data by yourself. A new return will be sent to you for approval. This form should be signed and retained by you as a record of your income tax return form that we have submitted.
Advise you, by e-mail, of the amounts of income tax to be paid and the dates by which you should make the payments, including payments on account and the balancing payment.
Submit the Income Tax Return form to the Inland Revenue electronically either by confirmation of assignment to act via the Government Gateway or on receipt of the Inland Revenue authority 64-8.
If authorised by you, deal with any enquiries raised by the Inland Revenue regarding amendments required to your return and prepare any amended returns. This may involve additional cost and will be notified to you in advance.
You agree you are legally responsible for making correct returns and for payment of tax on time.
Your Responsibilities
To enable us to carry out our work you agree you will:-
Disclose to us all sources of income, charges, allowances and capital transactions and to provide full information necessary for preparing the return. We will rely on the information and any documents being true, correct and complete.
Respond quickly and fully to our requests for information and to other communications from us.
Provide us with information in sufficient time for your tax returns to be completed and submitted by the due date following the end of the tax year.
Deadlines - There are two important deadlines for submitting your tax return:
30th September - to enable the Inland Revenue to collect an underpayment that is less than £2000 via a restriction in your notice of coding for the following tax year.
31st January - the latest filing date before a fixed penalty may arise.
To ensure that your Income Tax Return is submitted before these dates the signed authority, 64-8 and your tax return details must be held by us at least 5 working days before each deadline or we cannot guarantee the tax return form will reach the Inland Revenue before the due date.
We will not be responsible, if as a result of a delay in the receipt of your signed 64-8 Inland Revenue authority, penalties or interest charges are incurred arising from late submission of your tax return.
We anticipate sending your tax return to you within three working days, however in times where we anticipate high volumes of traffic our turnaround times may increase. However, we will try to keep any disruption to a minimum.
We also reserve the right to change the price of the service at short notice.
Please note that this is solely a form filling service. No advice will be provided other than that relating to entering the information onto the tax return filing system.
If, after we have prepared your tax return form on the information you have submitted, we will, for an additional charge, make repairs to you tax return before the return form is sent to the Inland Revenue.
We will not be responsible for any loss of data on the system due to crashes on your PC due to the software or for any problems with the connection to the Inland Revenue portal.
Payments on Account - We do not offer any further advice other than that indicated by the online help screens. We do not take responsibility for any interest charges that may arise on additional tax that may be due following a claim to reduce payments on account
Enquiries - If the Inland Revenue chooses to enquire into your tax return, this work will be the subject of a separate assignment and we will seek further instructions from you.

We undertake to look into any complaint carefully and promptly and to do all we can to explain the position to you. If we have given you a less than satisfactory service, we undertake to do everything reasonable to put it right. If you are still not satisfied you may of course refer the matter to our Institute which has the power to take disciplinary action against members in appropriate cases.
