Leaving the UK for a work assignment overseas?

Are you a Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of the European Economy Area?

Hicks and Company offer a service to recover income tax that you may have overpaid for the tax year of your departure from and arrival to the UK. We can also provide advice on matters to consider whilst you are away.

The service includes:

  • Supplying you with the necessary Inland Revenue forms for completion.
  • Checking the completed forms.
  • Calculating and advising of your tax position.
  • Submitting the forms to the Inland Revenue.
  • Agreeing your tax position with the Inland Revenue

Documents required by the Inland Revenue

Before applying for the service please ensure that you have documentary evidence of your earnings such as Forms P45 or P60 as this will be required by the Inland Revenue.

Letting your home whilst overseas

Please be aware that if you intend to let your property whilst you are overseas this will remain taxable in the UK and the Inland Revenue will require the completion of a self-assessment tax return.

We can ensure that your filing obligations are met, liaise with your letting agent, maximise all allowable expenses, to include an amount for our charges and claim personal allowances. We will send your tax return to you via email and advise you of any tax liabilities and how and when to pay. The tax return will be filed electronically with the Inland Revenue.

If you require any further information, please complete our Enquiry Form for us to contact you for a quotation. Alternatively please telephone Paul Sadler on 01582 766677.
